Frequently Asked Questions.
-
Q: Where are you located? We’re nestled right in 225S Main Street, Driggs, ID 83422 (Behind Furry Bellies), offering a cozy, calm space where your pup gets one-on-one attention without the chaos of a busy salon.
Q: How do I book an appointment? You can Click Here, call/text us at 208-557-1871 or email us at jess@jesspup.com.
Q: Can I just swing by with my dog? As much as we love surprise visits, we’re appointment-only. That way, every pup gets their moment to shine—no waiting, no chaos, just pampering.
Q: Can I stay during my dog’s grooming session? For safety and focus, we ask that pet parents not stay during grooming. Most dogs settle in more easily when they’re not trying to keep one eye on you and one on the shampoo bottle! Your pup is in calm, capable hands—and we’ve found that they relax more and experience less stress when they’re not distracted by your presence. If you have concerns or special requests, we’re happy to chat beforehand to make sure you feel confident and your dog feels supported.
Q: Can I drop off my dog earlier than the scheduled appointment time? We understand life gets busy! However, since Jess’s Pampered Pups operates out of a grooming trailer, we don’t have space to accommodate multiple dogs at once. Early drop-offs can also disrupt the grooming session already in progress. We can accommodate drop-offs up to 10 minutes early. If it’s a one-off situation, please reach out—we’re happy to see what we can do.
Q: Can I pick up my dog later than the scheduled end time? Late pick-ups are not part of our standard service, as our trailer setup doesn’t allow us to safely or comfortably hold multiple dogs. If pick-up is more than 30 minutes late, a $15 fee will apply, plus $15 for every additional 15 minutes thereafter. We understand that life happens—if you’re dealing with an emergency or unexpected delay, please reach out as soon as possible. We’ll do what we can to support you while keeping all pups safe and stress-free.
Q: Do you offer gift certificates?
Absolutely! We offer physical gift certificates—just ask, and we’ll be happy to help you choose the perfect pampering surprise. -
Q: What grooming services do you provide? We offer a range of pampering packages tailored to your dog’s coat type and grooming needs. Head over to our Service Page for a breakdown of each package, from Basic, Tidy to Full Pampering, plus add-ons like teeth brushing, de-shedding and more.
Q: What is hand stripping, and do you offer the service? Hand stripping is a gentle, hands-on grooming method designed for wire-coated and harsh-coated breeds. Instead of using clippers, I use my hands and specialized tools to remove dead hair, helping preserve your dog’s natural coat texture, color, and skin health.
Yes — Jess’s Pampered Pups proudly offers hand stripping as a full pampering service. It’s slow, intentional, and tailored to each dog’s comfort and needs.Q: Can I request a specific haircut or style? Absolutely! We love bringing your vision to life. Just share photos or details at drop-off, and we’ll tailor the groom to your pup’s coat, comfort, and personality.
Q: Can you skip the bath or just do a nail trim? Yes! We offer à la carte services like nail trims, paw pad care, and face tidy-ups. Let us know what you need, and we’ll customize the appointment.
Q: Do you groom all breeds and sizes? We welcome all breeds—but due to physical limitations, we currently work with dogs weighing 100 lbs or less. If your pup is close to that limit and you're unsure, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to discuss what’s feasible and safe for both your dog and our setup.
Q: How long does a grooming session take? Most appointments last 1.5–2 hours depending on your dog’s size, coat condition, and temperament. We never rush—your pup’s comfort is our priority.
Q: Do you pluck ear hair during grooming? Only if requested or medically necessary. Some breeds benefit from ear plucking, but for others, it can cause irritation. If your vet recommends it, we’re happy to include it—just let us know.
Q: Do you express anal glands? We do not express anal glands unless specifically requested, and only externally. If your dog has recurring gland issues, we recommend consulting your vet for internal expression or medical care.
Q: Do you offer Teeth Brushing? Yes—teeth brushing is available as an à la carte or add-on service. We use pet-safe tools and enzymatic toothpaste to gently support your dog’s oral health. It’s a light, preventative service and may be skipped if your pup is stressed or reactive. For tartar removal or dental concerns, we recommend consulting your veterinarian.

How does grooming pricing work at Jess’s Pampered Pups? Grooming prices depend on your dog’s size, coat condition, temperament, and the services requested. We aim to charge fair prices for premium care—reflecting the time, skill, and attention your pup deserves.

If extra time is required—due to matting, anxiety, age sensitivities, or special handling—additional fees may apply. These are based on the time, care, and resources needed. We’ll always communicate adjustments clearly. No surprises, just honest care.
-
Q: What vaccinations are required? We require proof of current Rabies, DHPP & Bordetella vaccinations. It’s part of our commitment to keeping all pups safe and healthy.
Q: My dog is anxious, reactive, or has shown aggression—can you still groom them? We specialize in gentle, low-stress grooming and have experience with nervous, shy, and reactive dogs. If your pup has specific triggers or needs extra time, we’re happy to adjust our approach to help them feel safe and supported. However, if a dog displays aggression during their appointment—such as biting, lunging, or extreme resistance—we may refer them to a veterinarian for sedation grooming. For the safety of all pets and myself, we reserve the right to refuse services if a dog’s behavior poses a risk. We appreciate your honesty in sharing any behavioral concerns before booking—it helps us create the safest, most compassionate experience possible.
Q: What if my dog has a medical condition? Please let us know ahead of time. We’ll tailor the session to your pup’s needs and may request vet clearance for certain conditions.
Q: Can you groom a dog that’s in heat or pregnant? We generally avoid grooming dogs in heat or late-stage pregnancy, as it can be stressful for them. If grooming is essential, please contact us to discuss timing and safety—we’ll always prioritize your dog’s well-being.
Q: My dog has sensitive skin—can you accommodate that? Absolutely. We use gentle, hypoallergenic products and can tailor the grooming process to your dog’s needs. Just let us know what sensitivities your pup has—we’re here to help them feel comfortable and cared for.
Q: What if my dog shows up with fleas or ticks? If we spot fleas or ticks, we’ll pause the groom and contact you immediately. For the safety of all pets, we require flea/tick treatment before rescheduling. A cleaning fee may apply to sanitize the space afterward.
We do offer a medicated flea shampoo treatment as an add-on. Once we call, you can let us know if you’d like us to proceed with a medicated bath during the visit.
-
Q: What happens if my dog is matted? If the matting is mild, we’ll do our best to gently brush it out. But for curly-coated breeds like doodles, mats can form quickly and become severe without regular grooming. When mats are tight, widespread, or close to the skin, shaving may be the safest and most humane option. We’ll always discuss the plan with you before we begin—your dog’s comfort comes first. Additional fees may apply for special handling or extended grooming time.
Q: My dog had to be shaved due to mats—what should I expect afterward? After a shave, your dog’s skin may be more sensitive to sun, cold, or touch. We recommend keeping them indoors or covered when outside, and avoiding rough play or bathing for a few days. We’ll provide tailored aftercare tips to help your pup heal and stay comfortable.
Q: How often should I schedule grooming to prevent matting? If your dog has a coat that’s prone to matting—especially doodles, long-haired, or curly breeds—regular grooming is essential. Most dogs with high-maintenance coats should be professionally groomed every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on their coat type, lifestyle, and at-home care. Waiting too long between appointments allows tangles to turn into mats, which can lead to discomfort, skin issues, and the need for shaving. A consistent schedule keeps your dog’s coat healthy, manageable, and comfortable—and helps avoid extra fees for special handling. Prevention is always kinder (and more cost-effective) than correction.
-
Q: Do you groom double-coated dogs like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, or German Shepherds? Yes! We specialize in proper care for double-coated breeds. That means no shaving—just thorough brushing, de-shedding, and trimming to maintain coat health and temperature regulation. These coats are designed to insulate and protect, so we treat them with extra care to keep your pup cool, clean, and fluffy.
Q: What if my double-coated dog is matted? Light matting can often be brushed out safely. But when a double coat is severely matted, brushing becomes painful and risky. Mats pull tightly on the skin, trap moisture, and can hide sores, infections, or parasites. In these cases, shaving may be the most humane option. While shaving a double coat can affect how it regrows, your dog’s comfort and safety come first. We’ll always walk you through the situation before moving forward. Additional fees may apply for special handling or extended grooming time, and we’ll be upfront about that too.
-
Q: Do I need to sign a waiver? Yes—all new clients must complete our client intake form before their first appointment. It covers health disclosures, safety policies, and what to expect during the session.
Q: What’s your cancellation policy? We kindly ask for 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Last-minute cancellations will incur a $75 fee for the missed appointment, and a separate, non-refundable $75 fee will be required to rebook.
Q: How do I pay? We accept cash, cheque, card, or online payment—whichever is easiest for you. Payment is collected at the time of service. While all methods are welcome, we do appreciate in‑person payments whenever possible, since online or card‑on‑file transactions carry higher fees (which Jess’s Pampered Pups covers). A card is collected at booking to reserve your appointment and provide coverage in the rare event of a no‑show.

Q: How does the loyalty program work? It’s simple! When you keep your pup on a regular grooming schedule every 6–8 weeks, you’ll automatically receive 10% off the base price of their full or basic groom.
Q: Do I need to track my visits or use an app? Nope! There are no punch cards or apps required. We’ll take care of the tracking for you — all you need to do is show up with your pup.
Q: When does the discount start? The program begins after your pup’s very first groom at Jess’s Pampered Pups. From then on, as long as you maintain the 6–8 week schedule, you’ll enjoy the discount.
Q: Are all services included? The discount applies to full and basic grooms. À La Carte and Add‑On services are not included.
Q: Are there any restrictions? The discount does not apply to matted or neglected coats, and it’s non‑transferable and not redeemable for cash.
-
Q: How do I refer a friend? Just tell your friend to mention your name when they book their first appointment.
Q: When do I get my $10 reward? As soon as your friend’s pup completes their first groom, you’ll receive $10 off your next visit.
Q: What does my friend get? They’ll enjoy $10 off their very first groom — a warm welcome to our pampered pup family!
Q: Is there a limit to how many rewards I can earn? Yes, you can earn up to $30 in referral credits each quarter. Then the rewards reset for the next season, so there’s always another chance to share.
Q: Can I stack my credits? Absolutely! If you earn multiple credits in a quarter, you can apply them together for bigger savings.
-
Q: Will my dog be tired after grooming? Some pups feel relaxed and sleepy post-groom—others are ready to strut their stuff. If your dog seems extra tired, it’s usually just the result of a calm, focused session.
Q: Can I get photos of my dog after their appointment? Yes! We love sharing glam shots. Just let us know if you’d like a post-groom photo sent via text or email.
